Research the following organisms; what special sense organs do they have and what are they used for? Four or five lines on each should be fine. Can you find any interesting videos/animations showing these sense organs in action?

Dolphins
Snakes

Year 10 Conduction of nerve impulses
I know it is Sesame street but it puts this topic into a serious context. Based on your knowledge of how you respond to stimuli (the anatomy of neurones, how and where nerve impulses travel) why does Christopher Reeve (actor who played superman) need to use the wheelchair? Sadly Christopher Reeve died in 2004.
Also, have a think about why he might have felt the need to address children about his disability?

Yr 12 Unit 3 coursework help
Just reading some of your coursework (section 1) and I feel the need to remind you about assessment criteria 1.2 and 1.3. Some people have not addressed it fully... click on the link below to the assessment criteria...
Unit 3 assessment criteria
For 1.2 you must: describe the biological methods and processes involved in producing data or solutions to the problem you have identified.
Notice the command word here, 'describe' - this is just putting into words how scientists are going about trying to find a solution to the problem you have identified - what trials are they carrying out, how are they collecting their data. You should also discuss the data they have collected..what does it show/prove.
For 1.3 you must: Explain how the methods and processes used in the chosen area of Biology are appropriate in terms of producing both valid and reliable data or effective solutions to address the problem.
Notice the command work here, 'explain' - here you have to comment on the effectiveness of the solution and how the methods and processes used are appropriate ie why do those methods produce valid and reliable data?

Year 10 Biology
I know you all loved the classification rap - so here it is in all its glory.....remember......K,P,C,O,F,G,S!!!!!!!!!
Year 8 Science
Click here to access the cardiac output spreadsheet activity. Complete the activity and you will learn some complex definitions to do with the function of the heart....AND....how to write simple formulae in Excel.
Hints: to write the formula for cell C14 (second half of question 2):
Click on cell C14,
In the formula bar near the top of the spreadsheet (just above column C on the spreadsheet) type =, (so Excel knows you want to write a formula)
then click on cell C12 (the value for body surface area),
then hold down shift and hit the number 8 (which is the mutiply sign),
then type 2.75 (cardiac index for 11-14 year olds given on the instructions page)
finally hit the 'enter' key.
There should now be a number in cell C14 and if you click on cell C14 the formula bar should read...=C14*2.75
To calculate the value for cell C18 you need to divide your cardiac output by your pulse rate (number of beats per minute). Use the same method as above but the divide sign is / (forward slash) which can be typed by hitting the question mark key. Remeber you don't need to type any of the numbers you need in your formulae, you just need to click on the cell those numbers are in.
